AG appeals against Kahawatte case ruling

The Attorney General (AG) today filed an appeal against the court ruling last month on the suspects accused of murdering two women in?Kahawatte.

Three people accused over the murder of a mother and her daughter in Kotakethana, Kahawatte in 2012 were last month?acquitted by the Colombo High Court.

The?mother and daughter were killed and the house was later set on fire. ? The victims were identified as U.Premawathi (59) and H. Pushpakumari.

At the time it was the 14th instance where women had been found dead in the Ratnapura area. (Colombo Gazette)

No change to key posts in the UNP following meeting

There was no change to any of the key posts in the United National Party (UNP) following the Working Committee meeting held today. The?UNP?Working Committee meeting took place at the party headquarters in Sirikotha today. There were reports that a new Deputy and Assistant leader will be appointed.
