A suspect has been arrested with heroin valued at Rs.120 million in Kuliyapitiya. The Police Narcotics Bureau arrested the suspect with 10 kg of heroin in his possession. Further investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

Five MPs reveal details of their assets to the public

Five Parliamentarians today made public their asset declarations in a move seen as a historic, first step. Water cannons used to disperse protesting teachers

Water cannons were used by the Police to disperse protesting teachers in Battaramulla today. The protest staged by the Ceylon Teachers Union resulted in heavy traffic being experienced in the area. The Police later used water cannons to disperse the protest. The protest later resumed forcing the Police to use water cannons for a second time and also tear gas. (Colombo Gazette)
