Cabinet approves electoral reforms via 20-A

srilanka_parliament-8The cabinet, which had a special session late this evening, has approved electoral reforms via the 20th Amendment to the constitution.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith Perera said that the cabinet had approved a proposal by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to have a 225 member parliament with 125 members elected via the first past the post system, 75 via the proportional representation system and 25 from the National list.  (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Why so delay on 20th amendment by M. Sirisena ?
    That is to prevent no-confidential motion against UNP-Ranil W…may loosing power in minority Govt.?
    Is this political tactics by MS puppet regime to be save UNP -Ranil and CBK junta ruling power in Sri lanka.?
    MS has to respect principle of Democracy and its values of Parliamentary democracy in Sri lanka.
    No room for political manipulation in the real terms of political democracy and Global Natural Justice by Village headmen turn politician!
