Curfew to continue in Colombo and Gampaha

The curfew currently in force in the Colombo and Gampaha districts will continue until further notice, the President’s Media Division said today. The President’s Media Division said that the curfew in other parts of the country will be enforced at 8pm daily till 5am the next day. However, on Sunday 17 May an islandwide curfew will be declared. The curfew will be lifted on 18 May at 5am in all areas, except in the Colombo and Gampaha districts. (Colombo Gazette)

Over 20 Navy officers infected

Twenty- six more navy personnel have been infected with COVID-19, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said. He said all 26 cases of COVID-19 reported yesterday were officers from the Navy Camp in Welisara. Another fifty nine (59) naval personnel infected with coronavirus have completely recovered and were discharged from the hospitals today, after testing negative to COVID-19. President donates three months salary to COVID?19 fund

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa donated his salary for three months to the COVID-19 Health Care and Social Security Fund. The President’s Office said that Rajapaksa donated his salary of Rs. 292,500/- for three months to the COVID-19 Health Care and Social Security Fund. The move comes as a request was made to Government employees to donate their May salary to the fund. The President?s Office said that the COVID ? 19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund?s balance has now surpassed Rs. 900 million
