Ananthi blames DMK’s Kanimozhi over Elilan

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Northern Provincial Council member Ananthi Saseetharan accused India?s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party chief M. Karunanidhi?s daughter Kanimozhi Karunanidhi of failing to ensure the safety of her husband S. Elilan.
Saseetharan said that Elilan had surrendered to the army during the final stages of the war after Kanimozhi Karunanidhi had assured him of his safety.
?She told him to leave his arms and surrender saying her father who was the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister at the time, was working with the Indian Government on the surrender. So my husband surrendered and after that we have not heard from him or Kanimozhi,? she said.
Karunanidhi has since lost the Chief Minister post to his arch rival AIDMK chief J. Jayalalithaa but Saseetharan said that Kanimozhi must still take responsibility over what happened. Elilan was the LTTE political chief in Trincomalee but he fled to the north after the east was liberated by the army. During the final stages of the war in the north, Elilan and several other LTTE members and leaders had surrendered to the army.
Elilan has however not been heard of since and the army had also, following the end of the war, denied any knowledge of his whereabouts. (Colombo Gazette)
