Soldier stabbed to death inside guard post

A soldier was stabbed to death inside a guard post at the?Ambepussa Army Camp while he was on duty today. The soldier was on duty at the post when he was killed. The soldier was identified as a 21 year old resident of Kegalle. Investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

Parliament approves motion to suspend Wimal and Prasanna

Parliament today approved a motion to suspend Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa and Prasanna?Ranaweera from Parliament. The decision was taken in connection to their?unethical conduct in Parliament recently. UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansa has been suspended for two weeks and?Prasanna Ranaweera for four weeks. The motion against Weerawansa was passed with 39 votes for and 21 against it while the motion?against Ranaweera was passed with 41 MPs voting for and 21 against it. (Colombo Gazette)

Delimitation report delayed by two months

The Delimitation report has been delayed by another two months, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya’s office said today. The Speaker’s office said that the Delimitation Review Committee has informed the Speaker of the delay. The committee has said they require two more months to reach an agreement on certain issues on the delimitation of the electorates.
