Parliament adjourned with no agreement on CC

srilanka_parliament-8Parliament was adjourned this afternoon with no agreement reached on the civil members nominated to the Constitutional Council (CC).

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa announced that Parliament will meet again on June 9 after both the Government and opposition agreed to adjourn today’s sessions.

Parliament convened today to decide on the three civil members nominated to the Constitutional Council. However the opposition refused to agree on the three nominees.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe then proposed that today’s special session be adjourned as more time was needed to decide on the civil members nominated to the Constitutional Council. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Laws are good. But it is useless unless it can be implemented. It also happened to earlier independent commissions where the dragging was continuing to appoint members for years. It is difficult to find independent people, but once found Politicians will drag.Is it the beginning of the end of C.C
