Concerns raised over Wijeweera’s resignation

Concerns have been raised over the resignation of?Director General of Sri Lanka Customs?Jagath P Wijeweera.
The Sri Lanka Shippers? Council said it noted?with “great regret” that the sudden resignation of the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs.
“Jagath P Wijeweera has been one of the few director generals of Customs who initiated and hands on approach in solving importers and exporters issues spontaneously,” the Sri Lanka Shippers? Council said.
The Sri Lanka Shippers? Council said?Wijeweera was also spearheading the Customs initiatives on e-Commerce and rendered an enormous service by providing leadership to his team and adopting the balance approach with all stakeholders.
“We appreciate the efforts of Mr. Wijeweera and acknowledge his straightforwardness, honestly and transparency when dealing with Sri Lanka Shippers? Council and its associate members,” the Sri Lanka Shippers? Council said.
The Sri Lanka Shippers? Council urged the authorities to ensure the good work commenced by the Customs will continue in a manner?which?ensures?the trade and related services would benefit. (Colombo Gazette)
