President notes sensitive nature of national security

President Maithripala Sirisena today highlighted the sensitive nature of the notion of national security and also the importance of it for the country’s forward-march.

The President made the observations when he undertook his first formal visit to meet Security Force personnel serving in the East today.

Addressing the troops, the President summed up the few projects that have been implemented for the greater benefit of the security forces at all levels. He also briefed them on the national security plan which is to be implemented to cover all areas.

“It has already been taken up in the National Security Council and will be finalized shortly with the support of tri-service consultations,’ the army media unit quoted the President as saying.

The President also assured the troops that the welfare facilities of the tri-service personnel will be looked after.

While appreciating the troop contribution to the development of the country, the President told the gathering that the valuable support of the security forces needs to be mustered for the development of the country in the future as well. (Colombo Gazette)
