The Ministry said that 65 Sri Lankan refugees in Chennai and Trichy will be brought back with the assistance of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
A spokesman said that the 65 Sri Lankans are expected to arrive in the country tomorrow on two separate flights.
“Those returning to Sri Lanka are from the North and East and had fled during the war,” the Ministry of Resettlement said.
The spokesman said that those returning to Sri Lanka are those who had expressed willingness to return and resettle back in their hometowns.
The UNHRC has already assisted in the return of several Sri Lankan refugees from India. (Colombo Gazette)
