Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka said that there is an attempt to mislead the public by claiming that fuel prices will be increased soon.
The Minister however dismissed the claims as baseless and he urged the public and fuel distributors not to be misled by the claims.
“Only the Power and Energy Minister can increase the price of fuel and as the Minister I have not taken such a decision. No one else can go and say that fuel prices must increase,” he said.
He also said that the claims of a fuel shortage is not just misleading but is a crime as it is spreading fear among the public. (Colombo Gazette)
