MH179 heading to Colombo makes u-turn

imageA Malaysian Airlines flight heading to Colombo, had made a u-turn last night and returned to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after burning fuel for two hours.

The Malaysian media reported that MH179 had circled around the Straits of Malacca for two hours after taking off from Malaysia on the way to Sri Lanka.

The plane is believed to have burnt fuel to reduce landing weight before making the u-turn back to Malaysia instead of heading to Sri Lanka.

The plane landed safely at the Kuala Lumpur airport. The reason for the u-turn is not yet known. (Colombo Gazette)
