Over 90 MPs to back motion on Ravi

Ravi KarunananaykeOver 90 Parliamentarians have so far extended support to the no-confidence motion which is to be tabled in Parliament against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, the opposition said today.

Former Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the no-confidence motion will be submitted to Parliament next week.

He said that the no-confidence motion will note concerns over the state of the economy and other issues related to Minister Ravi Karunannayake.

Gunawardena said that Karunanayake has been accused of having direct dealings with Sri Lankan born US based convicted felon and ex-hedge fund kingpin Raj Rajaratnam.

The former Education Minister said that under those circumstances, Karunanayake has no ethical right to be the Finance Minister of Sri Lanka.
