Shirani barred from leaving

Former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake has been barred by court from leaving the country.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya issued the order when Bandaranayake appeared in court today over a case filed by the bribery and corruption commission.
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) consisting of some 100 lawyers appeared in the case representing Bandaranayake.
The case was postponed to February 14 next year. (Colombo Gazette)

Probe over death of Chinese man in star class Colombo hotel

An investigation has been launched over the suspicious death of a Chinese man at a star class hotel in Colombo. The Police said that the Chinese man was found dead at the hotel in Slave Island, Colombo. According to the Police, blood stains were seen on the body.
