The Ministry of Education says 31 schools in Colombo will be closed in November during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Accordingly the selected schools will be closed from November 6 to the 19th, the Education Ministry said.
The Ministry said that the schools will be used to assist the security arrangements being made for the high level delegates visiting Sri Lanka for the summit.
The schools which will close include Royal College Colombo, Mahanama, Ananda, Hindu College, Thurstan, D. S. Senanayake College, Nalanda and Visakha Vidyalaya.
However the Education Ministry said that the respective schools will utilize alternative days following the summit to cover the syllabus lost as a result of the school closure. (Colombo Gazette)
