The opposition United National Party (UNP) today alleged that elections laws have been openly violated by the government.
UNP General secretary Tissa Attanayake said that the government was using state resources for election propaganda work.
He alleged that the government’s polls campaign includes using intimidation and offering food to people through food stalls (dhansals).
Attanayake also alleged that an ethanol stall is also being operated by the government to obtain support for the elections.
The UNP General Secretary said that the upcoming provincial council elections is key and so her urged the public to be mindful on who they vote for at the polls. (Colombo Gazette)
