Severe weather advisory issued

The Department of Meteorology has issued a severe weather advisory for 48 hours beginning at 1pm this afternoon.
The Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology says heavy rain will continue in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North-Western provinces.
Very heavy rain falls (about 150mm ) are also expected at some places.
There is a high possibility for increasing of winds speed over the Southwestern parts of the island and over the sea areas off the Western and Southern coasts by tomorrow morning.
Winds will be Westerly or at a Southwesterly direction and speeds will be between 30-40kmph. The deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Galle may be very rough and dangerous as the winds can strengthen up to 70kmph at times. (Colombo Gazette)
