The heavy rain experienced in some parts of the country will continue till Monday, the Department of Meteorology said today.
According to the Department of Meteorology showers will occur at times in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in the Jaffna peninsula.
Showers or thundershowers will develop elsewhere during the afternoon and night. Heavy falls (more than 100mm) is also likely at some places.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during showers. The general public have been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
The Department of Meteorology also said that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Galle and at several places as well.
Winds will be Southwesterly and speed will be 30-40 km/hr. The speed may increase up to 50kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Jaffna and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Jaffna and from Hambantota to Pottuvil may be fairly rough at times. (Colombo Gazette)
