The main opposition UNP today raised suspicions on the break-in and entry into the house of journalist Mandana Ismail Abeywickrema on Saturday.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said that the government had got agitated soon after the incident and was doing all it can to prove that it was robbery.
He said that the government wanted to show that the incident was nothing serious and had even released a special statement to that effect.
Attanayake said that since investigations were ongoing he did not want to assume anything but yet there were still questions raised on the suspects.
The UNP General Secretary also hailed the actions of the police and the 119 service saying the speedy response to the call made by Mandana’s husband Romesh may have saved the family from disaster. (Colombo Gazette)
