The army says it will release more civilian owned land in the north today which would also see a further reduction of troops in the area.
Army spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said the army will hand over 46 houses and over 55 acres of land today in Valikamam and Vadamarachchi.
He said that in Vadamarachchi the Army will hand over land to the extent of 52 acres in the Maradankeni and Pallai areas and move the troops to another military accommodation.
The army will also release seven houses in the area which was under army occupation since 2009.
In Valikamam the army will hand over 39 houses in the Udduvil area to the rightful owners. These houses have been rented by the army since 1995. (Colombo Gazette)
