PM rejects allegations by President on Dilrukshi

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today rejected allegations made by President Maithripala Sirisena on former Director General of the Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe. The President had claimed yesterday that the Prime Minister had requested him to appoint Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe as a Supreme Court judge. Schools in parts of South to close owing to adverse weather

A decision has been taken to close schools in parts of the South owing to the adverse weather. Southern Province Governor Hemal Gunasekara said that all schools in the Galle and Matara Districts will be closed tomorrow and on Wednesday. Some roads in Galle and Matara were flooded following heavy rain. Over 200mm of rain was forecast for several areas tonight.
