Vaas?s tab to be investigated

The Colombo Additional Magistrate today ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to send a computer Tab used by former DIG Vass Gunawardena to the Colombo University to gather the data stored in the device.
The CID is also investigating three mobile numbers used by the former DIG, the court was told today.
Nine suspects including Gunawardena and his son Ravindu were further remanded by the Magistrate today till August 27 over the murder of a Muslim businessman.
Ravindu Gunawardena is kept in the same cell as his father owing to security concerns. (Colombo Gazette)

Maldives FM to brief diplomats in Colombo

The Maldives Government is to brief the diplomatic community on the arrest of Maldives Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor. India’s PMK seeks all-party meeting on Sri Lanka

Condemning the recent arrests of 34 Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan army, India’s PMK leader S Ramadoss has requested Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa to return to Chennai from Kodanad and hold an all-party meeting to discuss the issue.
