Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena says these days people enter politics only to make money.
He said that the public have a poor image of Sri Lankan politicians and the politicians themselves must take the blame for that.
“During our school days when we look at a politician there was a lot of respect for them. But that changed during the latter part of the 1970’s with the current constitution,” he said.
He said that the preferential votes system has been created in a manner which creates negative impact on politicians. (Colombo Gazette)
