The anti-hate Cabinet paper submitted by Minister of National Languages and Social Integration Vasudeva Nanayakkara is to be sent to the Attorney General’s (AG) Department once it gets the final Cabinet approval.
The Cabinet paper is now with a Cabinet sub-committee after it was passed by Cabinet when it was first submitted.
Once the sub-committee approves it the paper will return to Cabinet and from there will be handed over to the Attorney General’s Department.
The Cabinet paper looks to ban anti-hate speeches being made in public which could lead to inciting disharmony among communities in Sri Lanka.
