Navy detains 16 Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

The Sri Lanka Navy detained 16 Indian fishermen along with 4 fishing trawlers for engaging in illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan territorial waters. The Navy said the Indians were arrested in the seas northwest of the Delft Island and northeast of the Kachchativu Island by Fast Gun Boats and Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command. Ravi warns of attempts to destabilise the unity Government

United National Party (UNP) Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake has warned of attempts to?destabilise the unity Government. Karunanayake’s media unit quoted the former Finance Minister as saying that some people who are with President Maithripala Sirisena are attempting to topple the unity Government and abandon the President.
