Election Commission calls for nominations for LG polls

The Elections Commission has called for nominations for the Local Government (LG) elections. Accordingly, nominations for a total of 340 LG bodies, excluding the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha in Galle, will be accepted from 18 January till 12:00 noon on 21 January. Ashu’s former partner seeks anticipatory bail

Ashu Marasinghe’s former partner Adarshaa Karadana filed a petition before the Colombo Magistrate?s Court today seeking anticipatory bail. Petition filed against holding Local Government elections

A petition has been filed seeking an order from the Supreme Court against holding Local Government elections in March. The petition was filed by Army Colonel (Retired), W.M.R.Wijesundara.
