Weliweriya: The battle for water

These photographs taken by journalist Dharisha Bastians shows the aftermath of the violence which broke out at Weliweriya last night over contaminated water.
Residents in the area alleged that the army had attacked them but the army says they shot in the air in retaliation as self defence when the villagers attacked the troops.

Lankan netball team in Australia

The Sri Lankan netball team was in Australia to train for the upcoming Asian championships to be held in Sri Lanka. The team includes Dharshini Sivalingham, the tallest netball player in the world.
