Sri Lankans stranded in Singapore return

Another group of Sri Lankans, who were stranded overseas due to the COVID-19 pandemic, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake this evening. The group consisting of 186 Sri Lankans were repatriated from Singapore. They were repatriated via a special flight chartered by Sri Lankan Airlines. Ranil Jayawardena appointed UK Trade Minister

Ranil Jayawardena has been appointed as UK Trade Minister by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Ranil Jayawardena, who has been the member of parliament for North East Hampshire since 2015, announced this morning (Wednesday) that he was asked by the Prime Minister to join the Department for International Trade as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State. More Navy officers infected

Fifteen Navy personnel were reported among the COVID-19 infected patients detected in Sri Lanka yesterday. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said 20 patients infected with COVID-19 were reported yesterday. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka stands at 771 as of this morning. The Ministry of Health said 549 patients are reported as active cases.
