Namal Kumara further remanded

Anti-Corruption Force Operations Director Namal Kumara was today ordered to be further remanded. He had been remanded till today over the violence which erupted following the Easter Sunday attacks. The Hettipola Magistrate?s Court ordered that Namal Kumara be further remanded till 23 January.

Sri Lanka prepared to face impact of new US sanctions on Iran

Sri Lanka is prepared to face any impact from new US sanctions on Iran, the Government said today. Government spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said that even in the past Sri Lanka took steps to mitigate the impact of sanctions on Iran. Chinese Foreign Minister to visit Sri Lanka

Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi is to visit Sri Lanka from 13-14 January 2020. The Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry said that the Chinese Minister will be on a transit visit to Sri Lanka. He will arrive in Sri Lanka at 11.30pm on 13 January and leave the country at 12.15pm the next day. The Minister is scheduled to have formal talks with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa during the brief visit. He will also make a courtesy call on Dinesh Gunaw
