Former LTTE media coordinator Daya Master has not been included in the final list of the ruling UPFA for the elections in Jaffna.
It is learned that instead Daya Master may contest the elections as an independent candidate.
Daya Master had appeared before the UPFA nomination board this month after he had applied to contest under the UPFA ticket.
However the Colombo Gazette has learned that he has not been included in the final list of UPFA candidates for the elections in September.
It was widely believed that Daya Master would be promoted as a candidate who was once a rebel but is now with the government.
Former Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan (Pillayan), a one time rebel, was promoted in the same manner before he won the elections in 2008.
