The police raided an illegal slaughter house in Orugodawatte and freed over 150 animals, the police media unit said today.
On information received by the police a team was sent to the location yesterday where they found the animals being kept in poor conditions.
The police said that the animals were being prepared for slaughter or were to be sold for a high price to customers.
During the raid the police found over 100 goats as well as two chickens cramped up in a small area.
The animals were taken to the Grandpass police for further investigations, the police media unit said.
The police said that three people were arrested and will be produced in court today. (Colombo Gazette)
