He has two words to describe the Sri Lankan people, happy and inspiring. Big Reeno, who was in Sri Lankan recently together with Sean Kingston and Taio Cruz to perform at the Carlton Supper 7s concert, said that he enjoyed his experience and hopes to be back in the country soon.
Big Reeno is a young, emerging music sensation, whose unique brand of Hip Hop has earned him accolades and fans from across the US.
In Sri Lanka, Reeno teamed up with Sean Kingston to record the theme song for the Carlton Supper 7s rugby tournament. Titled ‘Celebrate’ the song has gone viral on YouTube.
“Celebrate was a fun record to make and I am happy that it is getting such a great response from the people. I think it perfectly captures who the Sri Lankan people are,” Reeno told the Colombo Gazette after returning to the US following his Sri Lankan tour.
Big Reeno has been writing and performing music since the tender age of seven and has worked, toured and performed with hip hop stars such as Nelly, Tech N9ne, T-pain, The Game, Flo Rida, Chingy, LA COKA NOSTRA, MTV’s Making The Band’s DAY 26, Murs, ILL BILL, Nipsey Hussle, Sean Price, Ruste Juxx and more.
Reeno signed on to indie label Hustle Proof Records and released his critically acclaimed debut CD “Midwest Heavyweight” in January 2010. The singles off the album, “My Emotions” and “Brush it Off”, are available on iTunes.
In 2011, Reeno released three projects including two free mixtapes and one free EP. The first of the projects was “My Words, Their Beats” mixtape which is a collection of songs from which the instrumentals have been used by well known hip hop/RnB artists.
Speaking about his Sri Lankan visit, Reeno said the island is amazing and the people equally amazing.
“I love Sri Lanka. Its such a beautiful island and the people are amazing. I have never seen so many happy faces. I tried to soak up the culture and atmosphere as much as I could but I know there is still a lot to be seen so I hope to be back in Sri Lanka soon,” he said.
Last June Big Reeno collaborated with Kolten Lee for the song “Iron Man 3”. Throughout the music video he explains why he feels like he’s in Iron Man 3 where the world is after him and all he wants to do is be himself.
The video, despite not being off the official movie soundtrack of Iron Man 3, has gone big on the internet.
