The police have arrested a man in Panadura who had posed as an investigations officer of the Terrorist investigations Division and obtained money from a man and threatened another over the telephone.
According to the police media unit, the suspect had obtained Rs. 70,000 from the son of a retired Doctor in the Kotte area.
The suspect had threatened the victim saying he had information that he had links with the LTTE and was investigating those claims.
He had later threatened another person at Barnes place in the same way and demanded money.
A complaint was lodged with the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and investigations led to the arrest of the suspect in Panadura.
The police had also recovered a car, a mobile phone and several Visa cards. The CCD is conducting further investigations. (Colombo Gazette)
