The UNP will go ahead and take disciplinary action against MPs Lakshman Seneviratna, Earl Gunasekera, Nilwala Wijesinghe, Upeksha Swarnamali, Prabha Ganesan and Manusha Nanayakkara after the Mount Lavinia Magistrate today removed an enjoining order which was earlier issued against such a move.
The Magistrate had issued the enjoining order after the MPs, who were with the UNP but have now aligned themselves with the government, filed petitions in court.
The UNP had decided earlier to take disciplinary action against the MPs after they voted with the government when former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake was impeached in parliament.
However the MPs obtained an enjoining order against the move from the Mount Lavinia Magistrate.
With the Mount Lavinia Magistrate today removing the enjoining order UNP sources said that the party will now go ahead and take disciplinary actions against the MPs. (Colombo Gazette)
