The government has decided to expedite the National Plan of Action (NPoA) on the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), the President’s office said today.
President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, who heads the committee looking at the implementation of the action plan, had a meeting today with the government departments involved in the implementation process.
The President’s office said that Ministry Secretaries and other government officials also took part in the meeting.
Weeratunga briefed the officials on the measures that need to be taken to speed up the implementation process of the action plan, the President’s office said.
He advised the government officials to take measures to implement the 53 LLRC recommendations approved by the Cabinet recently.
The President’s Secretary also urged the government Ministries to address all issues to assist government efforts at National reconciliation including issues not mentioned in the LLRC report. (Colombo Gazette)
