Several displaced by rain

Several people were displaced last night by heavy rain experienced in some parts of the country, the police media unit said.
The police said that in Dimbulupathana, Mayfield Estate 238 people were displaced and shifted to temporary shelters.
The Devon falls river had overflowed and as a result the people from 30 families were displaced.
Meanwhile in Kandapola, the police said that heavy rains and strong winds had uprooted trees damaging several houses in the area.
The police said that 31 people were displaced in the area and were transferred to a Temple. (Colombo Gazette)

Water cut in several areas in Colombo

Water supply has been disrupted for 9 hours in several areas of Colombo from 01.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. today. The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) said the water disruption is due to a sudden breakdown in a main water supplying pipe line. Water supply will be disrupted to Colombo- 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, the NWSDB said. It added that water will be supplied in low pressure to Colombo – 4 and 14 during this period. Colombo remains high risk area with 22 patients

The Colombo District remains a high risk area for the coronavirus as 22 of the around 100 confirmed cases are from Colombo. Director General of Health Dr.?Anil Jasinghe said that Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha had been identified as ‘high risk areas’ for the spread of the virus. He said that, as of this evening (Thursday), 22 confirmed coronavirus patients were from the Colombo district, 14 from Kalutara, 10 from Gampaha and 9 from Puttalam.
