There are no reports of Sri Lankans being injured from the multiple blasts at the Mahabodhi temple in Bihar’s Bodhgaya district in India today.
Hundreds of Sri Lankan pilgrims often visit the Temple including politicians.
One person has been feared dead and two injured after a series of blasts took place inside the Mahabodhi temple.
The first blast took place at 5:15 am on Sunday morning, India Today reported.
According to the police six blasts have been reported, 4 in the Mahabodhi temple premises, one near another temple nearby and one near 80 feet murti.
The two injured are monks, one from Tibet and the other from Myanmar.
The Bihar DGP said that the blasts were of low-intensity and there has been no reports of any damage to the temple shrine.
According to reports, another bomb was found near the temple, and was defused.
The Police had issued an alert regarding a threat to the Bodhgaya temple and central forces were deployed for security. (Colombo Gazette)
