MEP says PC system harmful

The Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) says the 13^th Amendment to the constitution has brought more harm than good to the country.
MEP leader and government Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that through the 13^th Amendment an attempt was made to use the Provincial Council system to merge the North and East.
Gunawardena said that land and police powers should not be in the hands of the provinces as that could pose a threat to national security.
He said that the government is, at present, carrying out development work around the country without using the provincial council system.
The Minister also noted that the debate of the 13^th Amendment has created a situation which should be addressed soon. (Colombo Gazette)?

Probe continues over death of domestic worker who was employed at Rishad?s house

An investigation is continuing over the death of a domestic worker employed at the residence of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen. Over 30 Sri Lankans who returned from overseas infected

Over 30 people who had arrived in Sri Lanka from overseas have tested positive for COVID-19 in the 24-hour period ending at 06 AM today.
