TNA and DPF hold talks (Audio)

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) had talks last evening with the Democratic People’s Front (DPF) on the upcoming northern elections.
A TNA delegation led by R. Sampanthan and a DPF delegation led by Mano Ganeshan took part in the discussion.
Both sides had also discussed moves by the government to repeal the 13th Amendment to the constitution, the DPF said.
“This urgently arranged discussion centered on the need for the common strategy between Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala progressive and democratic parties in view of the issues emerging from the government stands on 13A, NPC elections and the PSC,” the DPF said.
Ganeshan said that at the discussion it was also agreed to educate the Sinhalese people in the South on the 13th Amendment to the constitution and the DPF will head that campaign.
He said that both the DPF and the TNA are of the view that the government cannot go back on its word to the international community on the 13th Amendment.
Ganeshan said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had already given an assurance to UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon and to India that the 13th Amendment will be fully implemented and so he cannot go back on that word now. (Colombo Gazette)
