Cop who ran after suspect missing

A policeman who gave chase to arrest a suspect in Habarana today has been reported missing together with the suspect. The police media unit said that a police team had gone early this morning to arrest a man who has a?warrant?against his name. However on seeing the policemen the suspect ran away and a policeman then gave chase. The police media unit said that by day break both the policeman and the suspect were still missing and a search operation had been?launched. (Colombo Gazette)

Vaiko, several others arrested during Lanka protest

Tamil Nadu politician Vaiko Gopalswamy and several others were arrested while they were protesting outside the UN office in Chennai. Indian Tamil media reports said that Tamil politician Nedumaran was among those who were arrested by the police during the protest. Some media reports said that around 100 people were arrested while other?reports said that 500 people were arrested during the protest. The?protesters?burned an effigy of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during the protest.
