Suspect arrested for impersonating officials and obtaining money

The?Terrorism Investigations Division (TID) has arrested a suspect who had impersonated?a President?s Additional Secretary and a Private Secretary and obtained money from individuals by promising to send them overseas for employment. The arrest was made following a complaint filed by?President?s Secretary Austin Fernando. The suspect, identified as Mahesh Muditha Kumara was arrested in Eheliyagoda. (Colombo Gazette)

Two National Housing Development Authority officials interdicted

Minister of Housing and Construction Sajith Premadasa says two officials of the National Housing Development Authority have been interdicted over the destruction of an archaeological site in Ipalogama. The Anuradhapura District Manager of the National Housing Development Authority and a technical officer have been interdicted over the incident as investigations continue. (Colombo Gazette)

Sixteen MPs who quit Government sit with the opposition

Sixteen Parliamentarians of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) who quit the Government recently, sat with the opposition in Parliament today. The ceremonial opening of the second session of the eighth Parliament took place today with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena. When the session began the 16 Parliamentarians sat with the opposition. (Colombo Gazette)
