Police DIG Vaas Gunawardena has been remanded over the murder of a businessman from Bambalapitiya.
He was ordered to be remanded till June 25th by the Colombo Additional Magistrate A.M Sahabdeen who visited the DIG in hospital today.
DIG Vaas Gunawardena was admitted to Ward 42 of the Colombo National hospital today after falling sick.
Gunawardena was arrested this week over the murder of a businessman from Bambalapitiya.
The DIG was arrested by the CID after he was extensively questioned over the incident.
A police Sub Inspector (SI) and two other policemen were arrested last week over the same murder.
Mohammed Shyam, 35, a businessman involved in the footwear industry residing at Sagara Road in Bambalapitiya was killed on 22 May.
His body was found in Dompe after he was reported missing. (Colombo Gazette)
