No casinos says Minister

Minister of Investment Promotion Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena says there are no plans to begin casinos in the country.
The Minister said that? the opposition is leveling false allegations against the government over the proposed US$ 350 million venture by the Australian casino businessman James Packer, the government information department said.
Referring to the statement that has been made by the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Most venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha? Thero, the Minister said he hopes to meet the Mahanayake to inform him of the truth over the deal.
The Minister said that although the government follows certain strategies to attract more foreign tourists, it does not intend to promote a casino business network in the country.
He said that the proposed deal with Packer was a venture to build a 400-room star class hotel complex complete with related services including retail shopping, entertainment facilities, fine-dining restaurants, and meeting and convention facilities.
