The police said that several residents in the Colombo area had been warned to clean their environments or face legal action for helping spread dengue.
The environment police had, over the weekend, carried out raids in Colombo and filed action against several residents who had dengue mosquito breeding grounds in their gardens, the police media unit said today.
According to the police, raids were also carried out on schools, the Colombo university, business establishments and other locations.
Of the 2891 houses checked, legal action was filed against 72 residents in Colombo and 12 institutions for having dengue breeding grounds.
Another 49 residents and five institutions were warned and told to clean their environments. (Colombo Gazette)
