Court says Bill consistent with constitution

The Supreme Court has informed Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa that the special?provisions bill for the?registration of voters displaced by the war, in?consistent with the constitution.
Chief Justice Mohan Pieris, Justice Sathya Hettige and Justice Rohini Marasinghe made the determination and communicated it to the Speaker.
The Speaker informed parliament today about the Supreme Court determination on the bill.
The bill seeks to allow those who were displaced from the North between May 1, 1983 and May 18, 2009 to be able to register to vote if they have not been registered as voters in any other electoral district. (Colombo Gazette)
