Taio Cruz replaces Nelly for Lankan gig

Taio Cruz has replaced Nelly for the Carlton Super 7s launch party to be staged at the CR & FC grounds in Colombo in July.
Nelly was earlier scheduled to headline the concert but organisers have now said that Cruz will perform alongside Sean Kingston and Big Reeno in what is tipped to be the biggest pop concert in Sri Lankan history.
The July 12th concert will be the first time that two big names in the music industry will be performing on the same day and on the same stage in Sri Lanka.
Tickets for the mega concert are ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 500.
Sean Kingston, who is on the world charts these days with ‘Beat It’ featuring Chris Brown, is popular in Sri Lanka with his track ‘Back 2 Life’ taken off the album with the same name.
For his third-full length album Back 2 Life, Sean Kingston immensely expanded his songwriting role, nixed the multi-producer approach of his last release, and pushed for a fresh new sound.Sean-Kingston
Like his 2007 self-titled debut (featuring the double-platinum breakout hit “Beautiful Girls”) and 2009’s Tomorrow (featuring the smash singles “Fire Burning” and “Face Drop”), Back 2 Life boldly fuses reggae, hip-hop, R&B, and electro to create melody-soaked pop.
But on Back 2 Life, the singer/songwriter blends his newly strengthened vocals with fiercely inventive electronic effects and hard-hitting live instrumentation to offer up his most passionately inspired work to date.
Taio Cruz is a British singer-songwriter, record producer, occasional rapper, and entrepreneur. In 2008, he released his debut album Departure, which he wrote, arranged and produced himself. It achieved initial success in the United Kingdom and earned him a MOBO Award nomination.
In October 2009, Cruz released his follow-up album Rokstarr, which includes the number one singles “Break Your Heart” and “Dynamite”. Cruz has collaborated with Kesha and Fabolous on the single “Dirty Picture”, as well as Kylie Minogue and Travie McCoy on his single “Higher”. Additionally, Cruz penned and recorded the song “Telling the World” as the lead single from the soundtrack to the 2011 animated film Rio. Cruz’s third studio album, TY.O, was first released in Germany in December 2011. In 2012 Cruz co-wrote the song “Without You”, giving David Guetta his first U.S. number 1 and adding to Cruz’s hit streak with his 3rd number 1 song in the U.S. (Colombo Gazette)
