The Colombo Magistrate has ordered an investigation into the men seen giving security to Homagama District Court Judge Sunil Abeysinghe last week.
The Bribery Commission had today raised the issue in Court and subsequently the Colombo Magistrate ordered the Bribery Commission to launch an investigation.
The Colombo Magistrate ordered the Commission to submit a report over the matter in two weeks time. Judge Sunil Abeysinghe was meanwhile further remanded till June 10.
Judge Abeysinghe, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission last week for allegedly accepting a bribe, had been taken to the Bribery Commission from the Cinnamon Gardens Police Station on Thursday and from there to the Thimbirigasyaya residence of the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
At least 15 men in civil clothes who came in a jeep, car and a van provided security to Judge Sunil Abeysinghe.
The personal security men had surrounded the Judge last week when he was taken to be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate on Thursday.
The men had prevented journalists from getting close to Judge Sunil Abeysinghe and had even held up books in an attempt to cover the face of the Judge from the cameras. (Colombo Gazette)
