CID probes leading NGO

The police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is investigating the activities of a leading German funded NGO operating in Sri Lanka.
A statement by the police media unit said that the Fredric Newman Foundation?is being investigated to see if it had gone beyond its legal limitations in it’s Sri Lankan operations.
The police said that a statement had been?recorded from Ms. Sagarika Delgado, a local representative of the NGO.
The investigations comes following reports that the NGO had conducted a workshop for the opposition UNP recently.
Meanwhile the police also denied reports that the investigation was being used as an attempt to arrest some UNP parliamentarians. (Colombo Gazette)
