Thirty-nine arrested for violating Quarantine Act

Thirty -nine (39) individuals have been arrested on charges of violating the Quarantine Act during special operations conducted by the Police in the Western Province yesterday (29). The Police said 1441 persons, who had failed to wear face masks in public places, were placed in mandatory self- quarantine for 14-days. Four PNB officers interdicted

Four officers attached to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) were interdicted today. The Police said the officers were interdicted following investigations conducted into their links with drug dealers. A Police Senior Inspector, two Sergeants, and a Police Constable were the interdicted officers. The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had detained and questioned one officer on 25 June and the other three officers the following day, the Police added. (Colombo Gazette)
