A large haul of? narcotics seized from four vessels in international waters off the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka on Monday (02) were transferred to the Dickowita Fisheries Harbour this morning. Navy Media Spokesman Lt. Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara said the stock containing over 330kg of heroin and over 50kg of ?ICE? were valued at Rs. 6 billion. US hails success by Sri Lanka Navy in combating illegal drugs

The United States today congratulated the Sri Lanka Navy on its latest success which involved combating illegal drugs. Government asserts plantation wage hike will go ahead

The Government today asserted that the plantation wage hike will go ahead. Minister of Plantations and Export Agriculture, Ramesh Pathirana told reporters at the post cabinet press conference today that the Government is confident the wage hike will be implemented from this month. He noted that the wage for this month will be paid during the first week of April. The Minister said that discussions are still ongoing to reach an agreement on the proposed Rs. 1000 daily wage for plantation worker
